Freecall Mayflower

Mayflower has introduced a FREE service for callers to our company. Many readers will already be familiar with the
principle of 0800 phone numbers; the caller pays nothing, the cost of the call is paid for by the recipient of the call.

Mayflower Chairman Mike Allison explains why he has taken this step. "We are a serviced based organisation and value our customers above all else and having a completely free means of contacting Mayflower is the right way to visibly demonstrate that commitment. Many other companies adopt a more cynical attitude to customer contact by using 0870 and 0871 numbers with the result that their customers become confused over the cost of the call, which can be up to 10p per minute! We think that is no way to treat customers.

"We believe the privilege of having customers calling us should be ours and not the other way around." At the same time Mayflower is adopting a ‘One Number' strategy for fast contact with the right person. Via our own Avaya IP Office telephone system, calls are programmed to locate the person being called by directing the caller to any telephone, including mobiles, until the person is reached.
