Voice over IP
The Internet protocol (IP) was originally designed for sending data packets. VoIP involves sending spoken conversations, in real time, over an IP network. A regular phone line transmits voice as analogue signals, but to be sent over the Internet (or a TCP/IP-based private network), an extra step is added.
CT Integration
In simplest terms, computer telephony integration is the technique of coordinating the actions of telephone and computer systems. This technology has existed in commercial form since the mid-1980s, but in the 1990s, several factors combined to significantly simplify computer-telephone systems and increase the marketplace's interest in computer telephony. Today CTI is commonplace and brings the power of the computer into the world of telecommunications.
